Not bad for amateurs! ;)

Not this past December, but in December of 2008, my bff Chrystal and I made this cake for (her son - my Godson), Vincent's 2nd Birthday. He loves firetrucks, and we did a firetruck birthday theme.
It took us about 4 hours to get it to look like this...
One of the problems we had, was that we couldn't make "red" icing for the firetruck. After an hour of messing around with icing and food coloring, we decided that there was no way red was gonna work, because it kept looking "pink" - there was no way we were going with pink - he's a boy, and it's a dang firetruck! So we opted to go with yellow, and it worked out just fine, as u can see. :)
Lesson learned: Red food color + white icing = pink, not RED! Go figure!! :)
We were pretty proud when we were done!! this was the first time either of us tried anything like this... and we only had to bake this one cake (cuz we didn't screw up too bad) -- unless u count the lopsided tires or the crooked ladder (shhh, vincent didn't seem to notice!) ;)

Actually, he didn't mind at all! :D

Yummy!! all that hard work right down to the belly!!! LOL

FAIL & Roosters

Okay, so I already failed at the pic a day thing. . .but never fear! there is snow coming so I will have plenty of time to sit around and go through photos soon! :)
And that really is what it is all about. . .finding them and going through them to post some. I am so looking forward to it. haha

Actually. . .I think I'm gonna find and post one here. . .a digital LOL (due to pure laziness and UNorganization skills when it comes to photos!)
And before I post the pix, just let me tell ya, I was NOT a fan of "roosters for pets" at my house. but they were given to Alex for his birthday by my sister's boyfriend, because Alex LOVES roosters. . .
just think chicken on a stick!! (Jeff dunham fans will get this!! haha) this is an inside joke that Bob and I like to tease Alex with!! LOL (not that we would EVER harm these WONDERFUL chickens!! (omg! did I just say that? sheesh!)
This is Alex's (attack) chicken named Foghorn (haha! right?)
I will explain "attack chicken" another day. . .just know he's vicious! o_O
And this is his partner in crime, below. . .yep, u guessed it, Leghorn!!
(that's my kid for ya. . .lol)

Pic a day - My baby

Some of my "blogger" friends are posting a "pic a day" type thingy SOOOOOO...I'm gonna go ahead and jump right on this band wagon!
I'm gonna try to post a pic a day - any pic, about anything, to try encourage myself to come here daily and write something. LOL I guess technically u could call that a goal, but since I always fail at goals, let's not call it that.

Its just something I wanna try. . .so if I fail so be it. ;) (ha, way to take off the pressure! hehe)

The first pic Im gonna post is of my baby (lol, yeah, he's still my baby. . .even if he is almost all grown up. . .btw. . .did I mention he told me he wants to go college in WASHINGTON - as in the state of WASHINGTON - to go to college????? :( Waaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh! Talk about making me feel OLD - and that is the whole way across the country waaaahhhh!)
yeah, way to stay on topic there. . . by throwing a big baby hissy fit. LOL @ me! I was just shocked. . .that he said Washington! o_O

In honor of my baby going to college in 3 1/2 years (lol - yeah, so that litte fit was fer nuthin - a little pre-mature, maybe? lol)
I present the following display of love and affection from my child. . .my baby! ;)
See, he can be a good kid!

and he's confident! LOL

My Alexander Lee. . .growing up. *SIGH*
He used to be my favorite camera subject. . .but now, he just hides his face or covers his eyes. I mean, I guess I can't blame him. . .he was tortured with the camera A LOT as a baby . . oooohhhhh baby pix!! Ha! I know what Im posting tomorrow!! LOL ;)

Snow

Well it has been a crazy busy week. . .and things are kind of hectic.
AND
I have one complaint. . .

THIS SNOW really SUX!
I have to walk to the end of the driveway now, every single day or be stuck (which I shouldn't bitch about, but Im lazy and spoiled!), and today when I got home and parked at the end of the driveway - after 3 freaking tries, cuz of the drifts and the ice. . .
I had to walk through patches of two foot high piles of drifted snow to get to the house. . .
did I mention it was dark?
and I had two grocery bags and two big packs of toilet paper (that I had to actually PAY $ for, btw)?
and no boots?
and only my work pants (cotton, not jeans - UGH)?

OMG! I was so pissed.
So. . .freakin. . .pissed!!!!

Feb 5th SnowStorm 2010

Well not only was this snow storm a duezy, dropping 12 lovely inches on us (thank God we were all home safe and sound prior to the start of this storm), it also shocked us the next day when we woke up and could not get out the backdoor because it was drifted closed.

The drifting snow is bad at our house with only 2-3 inches of snow, and most times we cannot get out of the driveway, not even with the truck. After some shoveling, and a friendly plow. . .the boys decided to have some fun in the snow. (see below)

As for me, I am still under the impression that snow is dangerous (and proven correct after ALMOST falling THREE times!!! ugh) unless building a snowman, and this was the wrong snow for that. . .so after snagging a few shots of my guys, I went back into hibernation!! Nice and warm and cozy. . .and where I prefer to be. hehe

We had to dig, to move the car, so it could be plowed. what fun! that pile is bigger than my car!!

Outside the back door, after it was shoveled. . .snow higher than steps!! sheesh!

Just a good shot of how deep the snow is compared to the truck. . .and that bare spot shows how bad it was blowing, AND drifting!

Alex showing me his first snowball (kinda) and that he was going to "get" Dad! haha :)

Bob is helping Alex up after he slid and fell. . .twice. . .and because Bob thought is was funny . . .

Alex decided it was time for Dad to take a nose dive. . .haha

but then he was a sweet kid and helped the old man up. . .better not laugh again, Dad!! ;)

Proof of how much snow there really was. . .before drifting. LOL

Our long ass driveway that ALWAYS drifts closed! It hasn't YET in this pic!

Bob and Alex jumped into this drift, and they thought it was a blast. Even though Alex was "stuck" which was funny. :)

El Potato Loco

Oh boy! that son of mine. . .

The boys were making dinner the other night and Alex found a "deformed" potato. So rather than just peel it like a normal person - he decided to get creative. LOL

I come home from work, look in the window of the kitchen door and see this on the kitchen table. . .

and before I could even get in, I had to smile thinking to myself "what the. . .?" as I see Alex standing there next to this thing with a big old smirk on his face.
I come in the house and say jokingly, "what the heck?"
he says "It's El Potato Loco, Mom!"
I said "uhm okay, where did that come from" as I examined the likes of this character, and added "and WHY does he have a knife"
the response "I made him, and he is a Mexican Potato who is under attack" (and just in case ur wondering, that string is his "leash" due to vicious attacks. haha)
After the explanation and a good laugh, I had to get the camera, because this is one of those things that ur just NOT gonna see everyday!! That silly child o' mine!! :) gotta love that sense of humor.

P.S. later on that night... Alex tells me he needs to find aother potato, shaped like a "sumo wrestler" so they can battle! Do you think he needs therapy??

P.S.S. Bob (who may also need therapy lol) says to Alex "u would crap ur pants if u woke up in the AM to Mr. El Potato Loco on ur window sill next to ur bed!" o_O *insert scary music here* -- great parenting there Bob!
Alex replied, "yeah, Dad, cuz U would be the one to put him there!"
Can't fool this guy, can we? LOL

Fight Update

As for the update on the children fighting. . .
Bob and I pondered over what to do about it for a long, long time. We both agreed that of all our punishments, nothing would make them realize the severity of what had happened. We could take everything from them, and make them stay in their rooms, but it wouldn't be good enough, because what have they learned??? Material things weren't gonna cut it this time. . .nope, not this time. : /

After I received each thier written versions of what had happened, I was even more disappointed. They were swearing at each other and saying that they hated each other as well as the physical fighting. :( Not what a mom wants to read from her own kids handwriting. . .but I asked for it - I wanted the truth, right?
I thought about putting their written versions of what happened here, but then opted to not do it. I will be keeping them though (till they are like 80 yrs old - blackmail, ya know? lol), and might bring them out as a reminder. . .if needed to teach a future lesson! LOL

In all seriousness though, Tara's driving priveledges have been suspended, and neither one of them have done a thing since this happened. (meaning they are grounded from activities) We did have a big sitdown, uhm, a "family meeting" if u will, and made it clear to them how bad this was, and how much worse it could have been. I used this example: what if Dad would have sent Tara to pick up Alex, and neither kid made it home because there was a car accident? Just to make a point. ..to try to get through to them how wrong AND dangerous this fight was. I am pretty sure they "get it" now, and I made them explain in their own words the bad choices each of them made, and how they could have prevented or changed their actions that led up to the fight.
and boy did we hash out EVERY last detail - EVERY ONE!!!!

(overdramatic much?) lol

All kidding aside, I am very thankful that nothing terrible happened (unless u count mom knowing her kids have potty mouths as "terrible" - I know, I know, they get it from ME! sheesh) and that they are both safe and sound. I am also thankful that they both finally get the point, and that they both learned from this experience.
I HOPE. *crosses fingers*

I think if these teenage years keep going they way they are, I'm gonna need some type of prescription SOON!! ;)
